TWILD is a non-governmental organization and not-for-profit society led by the Tahltan people.

Tū’desē’cho Wholistic Indigenous Leadership Development (TWILD) is leading this project. TWILD’s community-led monitoring program aims to provide the capacity and data for future generations to make informed adaptations to the impacts of change factors, including climate change and industrial development, in Tahltan territory. The focus of this project is to monitor water quality and assist in the creation of the K-12 Tahltan Science curriculum. The curriculum will provide land and water-based learning for youth to participate in the multi-generational collection of scientific data and Tahltan observations and knowledge to changing water and lands.

“Water is one of the vital life forces for the well-being of the gifts from Earth Mother, and we need to do our part to hold it and care for it. The Tū endān (you are drinking water) Community-led Monitoring project aims to monitor the water quality in Tahltan territory so future generations can make informed adaptations to impacts from change factors, climate change and industrial development. Through this work we also hope to assist in the creation of the Tahltan Science curriculum K-12 which will support land and water-based learning for youth. Our greatest outcome is with the youth as they learn about the importance of land and water by them creating their own connections to the spirits of the lands.” – Curtis Rattray, Co-Lead CLM, TK, & Tene programs + Board member, Tū’desē’cho Wholistic Indigenous Leadership Development (TWILD)
