Miami River Floating Wetlands Initiative

Sts’ailes is leading a project to install floating wetlands in the Miami River, which flows into Harrison Lake in southwestern British Columbia. The project aims to: (1) improve water quality in the Miami River, (2) support harvesting of culturally important species and encourage knowledge-sharing within Sts’ailes and nearby communities, and (3) strengthen relationships with local governments and increase the visibility of the Sts’ailes community in the Village of Harrison Hot Springs.
Key activities include the design and installation of floating mats, community engagement, and stewardship collaboration focused on watershed health.
