Foodlands Corridor Restoration Program: Bell Slough Corridor

Grant Amount: $150,000

Intake Year: 2026

Region: Fraser Basin

Project Theme:

Rivershed Society of British Columbia (Rivershed) is working in collaboration with Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition (FVWC), Xwchíyò:m (Cheam) First Nation, Sqwá First Nation, Save the Bell Slough Society, and landholders to restore private land adjacent to Bell Slough, as part of the Foodlands Corridor Restoration Program.

The primary goals for this project are to restore habitat for species-at-risk along Bell Slough, foster community engagement, and connect with other local restoration efforts managed by the Cheam and Sqwá First Nations. In the long term, project activities aim to contribute to the restoration of the slough and reconnection with the wider water channel system including Hope, Camp and Nelson Sloughs.
“We appreciate this support for the Bell Slough project. Foodlands corridors take shape over multiple years and across multiple sites, with work carried out in step with collaborators. This work reflects a long-term approach to restoring riparian areas and waterways, and sustained support helps ensure it can continue.”
